The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office did not comply with state notification laws after a courthouse deputy’s family member was reported shot to death in their home.

In response to a Public Information Act request from The Frederick News-Post, State’s Attorney Charlie Smith said his office became aware of the death, which occurred early Feb. 27, that afternoon through “collateral sources.”

Im agreeing with almost all these comments. Gun was loaded in a home with a three year old child with no safety device on it. Being in possession by a non sworn officer who shoulda had training and obviously didnt. I was told only sworn officers possess weapons. But the part that really gets me is their saying death by suicide with two,not one gunshot wounds.smh. I agree with eyelounge 100% totally. Get jenkins out of there and alot will change. He covers up alot of his officers misconduct. No dissrespect to the family of the deceased but somethings aren't adding up. Glad u obtained a lawyer.

The cause of death was TWO gunshots?

Frederick County needs a "Sunshine " Law so incidents like this can be reported. People should be able to know what's going on around them - especially violence like this.

This sounds like another cover-up by the Jenkins regime.

...And the witch-hunt (for the FCSO) continues. Beat that dead horse!

Too many irregularities here! TWO gunshot wounds and it's being treated as a suicide? The firearm owner was a non-sworn civilian courthouse employee? Only sworn deputies should be allowed to carry -- and use -- firearms in an official capacity. A loaded and unlocked firearm was kept in a home without proper safe guards. Was the gun owner not given any basic firearms safety training? Sheriff Jenkins once said that he had no budget for training. It's apparently showing up in the conduct of his deputies and pseudo-deputies.

FNP not your business.More gossip.

Jenkins said. “I can assure you that won’t happen again in the future.”
Yes when Jenkins is finally replaced and a competent Sheriff is in office, lots of things won't happen again
